Luxembourg-based RTL Group, Europe’s largest commercial broadcaster, has revealed its best ever half-year result.

RTL Group made a €537 million profit in the first six months of 2010, up 46.3% against the first half of 2009. Revenues grew 7.5% to €2.661 billion.

The group explains the higher profit with better results in Germany, Netherlands and France and also points to cost savings implemented last year. RTL Radio, a market leader in France, increased its profit 87.5% to €15 million.

In January, RTL Group expanded its presence on the Dutch radio market – where it already runs CHR station Radio 538 – with the acquisition of Radio 10 Gold from Talpa International.
