Lite FM and KOST-FM Still Number One

In the previous Arbitron survey, Clear Channel made huge gains thanks to the seasonal Christmas format used by its AC stations in the major markets. This time, the figures are lower but strong enough for Lite FM in New York and KOST-FM in Los Angeles to remain the market leaders.

Clear Channel’s New York station Lite FM drops from 11.5% to 7.1%, while CBS Radio’s oldies outlet WCBS-FM is up .3 to 6.5%. Clear Channel’s Z100 (4.9%) and KTU (4.4%) are stable at third and fourth place. Four stations return to the top 10: CBS Radio’s news station 1010 WINS, urban AC stations WBLS and Kiss FM and CBS Radio’s sports station WFAN.

In Los Angeles, KOST-FM falls from 8.5% to 4.8% and now shares the number one spot with Clear Channel’s talk station KFI-AM, which is up from 4.5%. After being outperformed by CBS-owned rival Amp Radio for the first time in the last survey, Clear Channel’s hit radio KIIS FM jumps from fifth to third place with a 4.4% share, the same share as Emmis-owned Power 106.
